The Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isah Umaru, has urged the Rano Local Government Council to relocate traders operating around the Rano General Hospital due to safety concerns.
He cited issues of congestion and the rising incidence of accidents in the area.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Rano Zonal Information Officer, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi.
According to the statement, the Emir made the appeal during his traditional Sallah homage visit to the Rano Local Government Secretariat, where he highlighted the risks posed to patients, residents, and visitors.
“In order to put an end to the problem, we urge the Rano Local Government Council to consider allocating a designated space where traders can be relocated away from the hospital premises,” the Emir said.
He explained that the activities of traders around the hospital have contributed to traffic congestion and increased the likelihood of accidents, making the environment unsafe.
In response, the Chairman of Rano Local Government, Malam Muhammad Naziru Ya’u Rano, represented by the Council Speaker, Alhaji Ahmad Jibrin, assured that the council would address the issue.
“Measures will soon be deliberated to address the accidents near the hospital,” Jibrin said.
He also disclosed plans to strengthen security collaboration among neighbouring councils.
“Rano, Bunkure, and Kibiya Local Government Councils will soon join hands to strengthen security activities, enhancing the safety of lives and properties, especially in light of rising cases of kidnapping and other criminal activities in parts of Kano State,” he added.
Jibrin further expressed sympathy with the people of the Rano Emirate over the recent abduction of the Kibiya Local Government Council Secretary and prayed for his safe return.
