Kaduna Police Engage Communities to Improve Security

Top officials of the Nigeria Police Force have intensified efforts to foster peace and improve security in southern Kaduna through direct engagement with local communities.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Shehu Umar Nadada, joined forces with the Commissioner of Police for Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, to visit several communities across the region. The initiative is part of ongoing strategies aimed at reducing crime, strengthening security structures, and building public trust.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the State Police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed that the visits covered key areas such as Kachia, Sanga, Jere, Zango, Kajuru, and Kafanchan, among others.

During the engagements, the police leadership held discussions with a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, members of Miyetti Allah, other Fulani representatives, religious leaders, and youth groups. These meetings focused on understanding the root causes of insecurity and identifying collaborative approaches to addressing them.

According to the statement, “Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between security agencies and the community, addressing farmer-herder conflicts, and promoting intelligence sharing to tackle criminal activities effectively.”

DIG Nadada highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence among residents, urging communities to embrace unity and avoid actions that could worsen existing tensions. He also reassured the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing commitment to protecting lives and property across the country.

The outreach provided an important platform for residents to openly share their concerns, perspectives, and suggestions. Community members were encouraged to actively participate in shaping practical solutions that can lead to sustainable peace in the region.

Reaffirming its commitment to community-oriented policing, the Kaduna State Police Command called on residents to support security agencies through cooperation, information sharing, and mutual trust.

“The DIG emphasises the importance of peaceful coexistence, urging all residents to live in harmony and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions. He assured the communities of the Nigeria Police Force’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property.”
