Israel Launches Major Airstrikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon

The Israeli military said early Thursday that it carried out a large wave of air strikes targeting dozens of positions belonging to the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah across Lebanon.

According to the military, the Israeli Air Force struck 10 locations in the Dahiyeh suburbs of Beirut within about 30 minutes.

The targets included a Hezbollah intelligence headquarters, the command centre of the elite Radwan unit, and several other command posts.

The military also said its forces hit a number of rocket launchers and targeted dozens of Hezbollah fighters who were preparing attacks against Israel.

In addition, guided by Israeli ground troops, the air force carried out further strikes on more than 20 other targets across different parts of Lebanon.

The attacks followed renewed rocket fire from Hezbollah into northern Israel.

The group resumed its launches about a week and a half ago after a pause, stating that the action was in response to the killing of Ali Khamenei.

Since the renewed exchange of attacks, Israel has intensified its strikes on Hezbollah positions within Lebanon.

According to official figures released in Beirut, the escalation of the conflict has displaced nearly 760,000 people across the country.
