Iran Warns on Strait of Hormuz as Israel Strikes Lebanon

Tensions have escalated in the Middle East as Iran signalled a possible return to pre-ceasefire restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz following renewed Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

Iranian state media reported that the strategic waterway is still being treated as closed, warning that vessels must seek clearance from its armed forces or risk being targeted.

The White House, however, disputed the claim, saying shipping activity in the area suggests otherwise.

“Privately, we have seen an uptick of traffic in the Strait today,” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.

She added that President Donald Trump expects the route “is reopened immediately, quickly and safely.”

Meanwhile, Israel launched a major offensive in Lebanon, striking Beirut, southern suburbs, and the Bekaa Valley.

The attacks reportedly killed 254 people and injured over 1,165, pushing total casualties since March beyond 1,500.

Israeli officials insist Lebanon is not covered by the ceasefire and have vowed to continue military operations.

“We will not compromise the security of the residents of northern Israel,” said Eyal Zamir, IDF Chief of the General Staff. “We will continue to strike with determination.”
