U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran possesses significantly more missiles than previously thought and was on the verge of launching an attack on the United States.
Trump made this declaration on Monday while addressing House Republicans during their annual policy retreat in Florida.
According to him, intelligence reports indicated that Iran was preparing for a major strike.
He said, “Within a week, they were going to attack us, 100 per cent. They were ready.”
Trump further added that Iran had a much larger missile arsenal than anyone had anticipated.
His remarks came as the United States continues its military operations against Iran. Trump suggested that the conflict might soon conclude.
In a phone interview with CBS News from his golf club in Doral, Florida, the president stated that U.S. forces had already inflicted substantial damage on Iran’s military capabilities.
“I think the war is pretty much complete,” Trump said.
He claimed that Iran’s military infrastructure had been severely weakened, asserting that the country no longer possessed an effective navy, communication systems, or air force. Trump also mentioned that many of Iran’s missiles and drones had been destroyed, including facilities used for manufacturing drones.
The U.S. military reported that over 3,000 targets inside Iran were hit during the first week of the operation.
Trump insisted that Iran had lost most of its military strength. “If you look, they have nothing left in a military sense,” he said.
