Fubara Calls for Partnerships to Boost Housing in Rivers

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has identified housing as a major driver of economic growth, employment, and improved living standards in Rivers State.

Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, at the BusinessDay South-South Real Estate Exhibition and Investment Summit 2026 in Port Harcourt, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s willingness to collaborate with private sector players to tackle the housing deficit.

The summit, themed ‘Addressing Nigeria’s Housing Deficit with Innovative Solutions’, brought together stakeholders to explore practical ways of improving housing delivery.

Fubara noted that real estate remains a powerful engine for development globally and can play a similar role in driving growth and wealth creation locally.

“Our administration is committed to creating an enabling environment for investors and stakeholders in the real estate sector through policy reforms, infrastructure development, and stronger public-private partnerships,” he said.

Also speaking, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development said efforts are ongoing to improve conditions for housing development nationwide.

The Minister, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, was represented by Queen Tekai, Federal Head of Lands.

Keynote speaker Mustapha Njie emphasized the need for accessible housing finance, reduced property registration bottlenecks, and stronger partnerships between government and private investors.

He also advocated for the development of modern cities supported by improved infrastructure and sustainable, smart urban planning.
