FAAN Implements One-Stop Screening to Boost Airport Security

The Federal Government has introduced a one-stop joint-interest screening system to strengthen security at Nigerian airports.

According to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the directive issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser aims to improve coordination among agencies and prevent threats around airport facilities.

Acting Regional Manager (North Central), Ahmadu Danjuma, said the new system will streamline checks by combining screening processes for passengers, cargo, and staff, while also boosting efficiency and reducing duplication.

“We have constant patrol along our perimeter fences,” he said, adding that FAAN works closely with other security agencies to maintain safety.

He noted that additional measures, including increased surveillance, modern equipment, and enhanced training for personnel, have been implemented to meet international standards.

The government has also approved armed aviation security personnel, alongside mandatory training programmes to strengthen airport safety.

Danjuma expressed confidence that the reforms will help prevent security breaches and ensure safer airport operations nationwide.
