President Bola Tinubu has called on Muslims to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence, and service to humanity as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The President made this appeal in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by his spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, while extending his greetings to Muslims observing the festival across the country.
Tinubu urged Muslims to reflect on the spiritual significance of Ramadan, noting that the holy month instills discipline, sacrifice, compassion, and devotion to both God and humanity.
He said: “We have a lot to draw from the noble lessons of Ramadan, especially at a time like this.
“We must continue to abide by the virtues of piety, selflessness, perseverance, kindness and compassion beyond this period.”
The President stressed the importance of unity among Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, emphasizing that national cohesion is essential for lasting peace and sustainable development.
He encouraged Muslims to continue showing kindness and extending charity to the less privileged, irrespective of background, in line with the core values of Islam.
Tinubu noted that such acts would help strengthen social ties, promote inclusiveness, and reinforce the spirit of brotherhood that characterizes Nigerian society.
The President also appealed to religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for peace, stability, and economic growth across the nation.
He expressed confidence that through collective efforts, Nigeria would surmount its current challenges and achieve enduring progress for the benefit of all citizens.
Tinubu wished Muslims a joyful celebration, praying that the blessings of Ramadan would usher in renewed hope, strength, and guidance for individuals, families, and the nation.
