A Magistrate Court in Warri, Delta State, has arraigned two men over the alleged unlawful collection of a development levy from a property developer.
The suspects, identified as Irikefe Ajueyitsi and Abubakar Nasiru, were charged with offences related to illegal demands and conduct capable of breaching public peace, according to a statement from the Delta State Government.
They were accused of demanding payment from a developer, Pastor Fred Aghedo, during a construction project along 3rd Marine Quarter Road in Warri.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty when brought before the court.
The court granted them bail, while the case has been adjourned until May 20, 2026, for hearing.
The arraignment comes as authorities intensify efforts to curb illegal levies, warning that offenders will face arrest and prosecution.
