The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has expressed deep sorrow over the death of two intending pilgrims who lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Kano State.
The victims, Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa, 48, and his mother, Hajiya Hadiza Garba, 73, were reportedly killed instantly when the accident occurred along the Rimin Gado road leading into Kano.
Both individuals were natives of Walawa village in Kabo Local Government Area and were said to be on their way in preparation for the holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia at the time of the incident.
Family sources disclosed that Alkasim is survived by two wives and seven children, while his mother, Hajiya Hadiza, is survived by five children.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Pilgrims Welfare Board described the loss as deeply painful, noting that the victims had been preparing for a significant spiritual journey.
In a condolence message signed by its spokesperson, Suleiman A. Dederi, the board offered prayers for the deceased and comfort for their families.
“We are deeply saddened by this loss. We pray that Almighty Allah forgives their shortcomings and grants them eternal rest, while giving their families the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read.
The board also extended its condolences to the bereaved families, praying for patience, resilience, and strength during this difficult period of mourning.
