Troops Intercept 3,250 Litres of Illegal Fuel in Rivers

Troops deployed under the Joint Task Force South-South, as part of Operation Delta Safe, have intercepted 3,250 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products during an anti-bunkering operation in Eleme Local Government Area of River State.

The operation, which took place on April 20, was carried out along Refinery Road within the Eleme area during a routine patrol by troops of LCSF MST 1/2.

Details of the development were shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama via a post on X, where he cited information from security sources familiar with the operation.

According to the report, the recovered substances are believed to be products of illegal refining activities commonly associated with crude oil theft and bunkering in the Niger Delta region.

Military sources indicated that the items were discovered at the location during ongoing patrol operations and were subsequently handled in line with established operational procedures of the task force.

They further noted that the military has continued to ramp up its anti-illegal bunkering efforts across the Niger Delta, targeting networks involved in economic sabotage and the destruction of critical oil infrastructure.
