Troops, Fighter Jets Repel Terrorist Attack on Yobe Military Base

Troops from Operation Hadin Kai, with crucial backing from fighter jets of the Air Component, successfully thwarted an assault by terrorists on a military base located in Goniri, Yobe State.

Details of this incident were shared on X this Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited information from security sources.

According to the report, the attack unfolded around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, when insurgents attempted to overwhelm the position held by the 120 Battalion under Sector 2 in Goniri.

Makama indicated that the terrorists managed to infiltrate the military location and engaged the troops in an intense gun battle after breaching the defensive perimeter.

The ground troops reportedly issued a distress call, which prompted a rapid response from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

“Upon receiving the distress call from troops on ground, the Air Component immediately scrambled fighter aircraft to provide close air support,” Makama wrote.

“The fighter jets quickly located the insurgents around the area and carried out targeted air strikes on their positions.”

Sources quoted by Makama revealed that the aircraft precisely dropped two bombs on the terrorists’ locations, resulting in the elimination of several of them.

“The fighter jets released two bombs on the insurgents’ positions with devastating accuracy, resulting in the elimination of at least 10 terrorists who were trying to flee after sighting the aircraft,” the source added.

Security sources highlighted that the swift intervention by the Air Component disrupted the attack and enabled the troops to regain control of the situation.

“The prompt response of the Air Component significantly disrupted the terrorists’ attack and restored tactical advantage to our troops on ground,” Makama wrote.
