The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two private security guards over the alleged killing of a traveller in Ibafo along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

The suspects, identified as Isikilu Dauda and Rasaki Abbas, were linked to the incident that occurred on April 10, 2026.

According to police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, officers from the Ibafo Division responded swiftly to a distress call, rescuing the victim and rushing him to a hospital.

“Detectives promptly mobilised to the scene, rescued the victim, and rushed him to the hospital for urgent medical attention.”

While being transported, the victim reportedly identified himself and described how he was attacked.

“While en route to the hospital, the victim identified himself and stated that he had been attacked and macheted by security guards after arriving in the area late the previous night,” the statement read.

He was later confirmed dead on arrival by a doctor.

“He was subsequently confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor on duty,” it added.

The police said the victim’s remains were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Investigators tracked one suspect through a trail of blood, leading to his arrest, while the second suspect was later apprehended.

“Preliminary investigation revealed a trail of blood linking the scene directly to one of the suspects, leading to his arrest, while sustained efforts resulted in the apprehension of the second suspect,” the command stated.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to capture other suspects still at large, and the case has been transferred to the State CID in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
