Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four individuals suspected to be involved in cult-related activities following an alleged assault and robbery incident in Ilaro, located within Yewa South Local Government Area.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, who disclosed that several items were recovered from the suspects, including a locally made pistol, an axe, charms, and a stolen mobile phone.
“The suspects—Samson John (25), Olufowora Michael (28), Odeh Samuel Ejeh (25), and Olajide Jeremiah (28)—were apprehended by officers attached to the Ilaro Division after a complaint was lodged on April 16, 2026,” he said.
According to the police, the incident began when a victim reported that Samson John and six other individuals allegedly invaded his residence at about 1:00 p.m. on the same day. The suspects were said to have physically assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and taken away his iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Following the report, police operatives launched a swift response, which led to the tracking and arrest of four of the suspects.
“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives tracked and arrested the four suspects.”
Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the group who are still at large.
“The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.”
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers for their prompt action and professionalism. He reiterated the command’s firm stance against cultism and violent crimes, assuring residents that such activities would be dealt with decisively.
