Nigerian Troops Neutralise ISWAP Leader in Yobe

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded a significant operational success following the neutralisation of a senior figure within the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) leadership.

The operation, which took place in Yobe State, reportedly led to the killing of a prominent member of the group’s Shura Council, identified as Abu Jarir.

The development was made public by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited military sources in a post shared on X.

According to the report, the operation followed credible intelligence that enabled troops to track and engage the high-ranking insurgent in the Babangida area.

Security sources described the outcome as a significant blow to ISWAP’s command structure in the Lake Chad region, noting that the removal of key figures could disrupt the group’s coordination and operational capacity.

Further details indicate that the overall ISWAP commander in the Lake Chad axis, identified as Ba Shuwa, allegedly mobilised a team to recover the body of the slain commander shortly after the incident.

“The search party was said to have been sighted moving on about 12 motorcycles around the Aljanna Jaule area,” Makama added.
