Troops under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have reportedly eliminated at least 61 terrorists believed to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Security analyst Zagazola Makama made this known in a report shared on X on Monday, noting that the operation was carried out with support from the Nigerian Air Force.
He explained that the breakthrough occurred when the insurgents attempted to infiltrate Malam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State on Wednesday morning.
According to the report, the attackers advanced on foot and deployed armed drones in an effort to breach the defensive position of troops stationed at the 68 Battalion, but were met with strong resistance.
Citing military sources, Makama stated that the coordinated use of air and ground operations enabled troops to pin down, engage, and neutralise a large number of the terrorists.
