The Nigerian Army has recorded a major breakthrough in its counter-insurgency operations, with the air component of Operation HADIN KAI eliminating several terrorists and crippling their logistics network in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force (North East), the success followed a well-coordinated strike based on credible intelligence tracking insurgent movements in the area.
The operation targeted a known террорист enclave and supply hub near the deserted village of Jilli, where multiple ISWAP fighters had reportedly gathered. Surveillance detected the movement of gun trucks and motorcycles heading toward the location, prompting intensified monitoring before the strike.
Air assets then carried out precise strikes on the target, destroying the logistics base and several vehicles. Many of the insurgents were neutralised, while others fled the scene in disarray.
“Intelligence further indicates that the neutralised elements were in the final stages of receiving logistics from couriers for coordinated attacks on troop locations within the Gubio axis.
“On 12 April 2026, a terrorist logistics courier identified as “Turja Bulu”, was arrested at Ngamdu Town, and upon preliminary investigation confessed that he took part in the attack at 29 Bde location on 9 April 2026 at Benisheik and had been dispatched by ISWAP from Jilli, where most of his fellow terrorists were hibernating, to provide food items for another group of terrorists currently hibernating around the Magumeri–Gubio general area,” the statement said.
The military said the operation has significantly disrupted planned attacks and weakened insurgent capabilities in the region.
