Nigerian Army Arrests 10 Terror Suspects, Rescues 3 Victims

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested 10 suspected terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims in a series of coordinated operations across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and parts of North-Central Nigeria.

Details of the operations were outlined in an official report released Wednesday in Abuja.

In the FCT, under Operation MESA, soldiers from the 176 Guards Battalion, working alongside a tracking team from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), arrested two suspects at a checkpoint in Abaji.

The individuals were intercepted while traveling in a commercial vehicle from Asaba to Kaduna.

In Benue State, troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE apprehended two suspects during patrol operations in Gwer West Local Government Area and recovered two motorcycles.

Further arrests were made in Nasarawa State, where six suspected terrorists and drug traffickers were captured in the Karshi area of Karu Local Government Area. The operation, based on actionable intelligence, also led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and ammunition.

“Troops also recorded successes in anti-kidnapping operations in Benue, where swift response to distress calls forced kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee.

“At Mbakange in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, one kidnapped victim was rescued and handed over to the police, while two others were freed during a separate operation in Agidi, Konshisha Local Government Area,” it said.

The Army said the suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, adding that operations remain ongoing to dismantle criminal networks and strengthen security nationwide.
