NDLEA Arraigns Two Drug Suspects in Oyo

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, has arraigned two suspected drug traffickers before a Federal High Court in Ibadan over alleged possession and transportation of illegal substances.

The defendants, Babatunde Awoyemi, 63, and Banke Adigun, 50, were charged with a four-count offence bordering on unlawful dealing and possession of narcotics. Both individuals pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following their plea, Justice Uche Agomoh ordered that they be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility. The case was subsequently adjourned until April 27 for hearing of their bail application.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, R.O. Ige, informed the court that the alleged offence took place on December 8, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State.

According to her, NDLEA operatives apprehended the suspects while they were transporting a sack containing 770 grams of Tramadol and 47 grams of Rubnol—both classified as psychotropic substances with effects similar to cocaine, heroin, and cannabis sativa.

She added that the offences violate the provisions of Section 11(C) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation 2004.
