Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash Kills 4 in Ogun

A fatal road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Mowe, Ogun State, has claimed the lives of four people and left eight others injured.

The lone crash, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus, occurred near Christopher University on Sunday night. The vehicle, reportedly carrying 13 passengers, is believed to have been travelling at high speed when a tyre burst caused the driver to lose control.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that emergency responders arrived promptly and evacuated the injured victims to Famobis Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were taken to Idera Morgue.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, regrettably wishes to inform the general public of the lone crash which claimed four lives.

“The FRSC Mowe Unit Command responded to the fatal lone traffic crash involving a commercial Toyota Hiace bus on the night of Sunday, April 5, 2026.

“The incident occurred at approximately 21:18 hrs directly in front of Christopher University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. FRSC rescue teams arrived at the scene within two minutes of being alerted.

“Total persons involved: 13 (11 adult males, 2 adult females). Injured: 8 (7 adult males, 1 adult female). Fatalities: 4 (all adult males). Vehicle details: White Toyota Hiace bus, registration number AGL789YL.

“Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was caused by tyre burst (TBS) and speed violation (SPV), leading the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

“Injured victims were immediately evacuated to Famobis Hospital for urgent medical attention. The deceased were conveyed to the Idera Morgue, “ he also said.

Authorities have taken custody of the crashed vehicle as investigations continue.
