The Nigeria Police Force in Kebbi State has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of Sufiyanu Garba and the abduction of his wife in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman.
According to the police, the incident occurred on March 13, 2026, while the abducted victim, Zainab Mohammad, has since been rescued and safely reunited with her family following a coordinated operation by the State Intelligence Department and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Authorities identified the suspects as Zakariya Abubakar Diggi, Joseph Dahali Wanda, Sanda Alhaji, Mamman Abubakar Manu, Aisha Manu, Saudatu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammad, Betuwa Muhammad, Abdullahi Umaru, and Ja’i Garba.
Preliminary findings revealed that two of the suspects allegedly carried out fraudulent SIM card registrations, which were then used by the kidnappers to negotiate ransom.
Police added that other suspects are still being investigated for their roles in the crime, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional members of the network who remain at large.
The command assured that all suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
