The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 26 individuals suspected of engaging in criminal activities during a targeted late-night operation within Katsina metropolis.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of April 14, 2026, was led by personnel from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit. It focused on several locations previously identified as hotspots for criminal activity.
Providing details of the operation, the Command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq, stated that the raid was intelligence-driven and aimed at curbing the activities of social miscreants in the area.
“In a sustained effort to tackle the activities of social miscreants terrorising the Katsina Metropolis, the Katsina State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of 26 suspected social miscreants during an intelligence-led operation.”
According to the statement, the officer in charge of the SWAT unit led a coordinated team of operatives to multiple black spots across the city at about 2:00 a.m. The operation resulted in the arrest of 26 suspects allegedly linked to various offences, including gang-related activities, unlawful association, and public disturbance.
During the raids, security operatives recovered a range of items believed to be connected to criminal activities. These included live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a knife, sticks, and a saw.
Officers also seized six mobile phones suspected to be stolen, along with substances believed to be Indian hemp and 500 pieces of Exol tablets. A pair of military camouflage shirts was also among the recovered items.
Police authorities confirmed that investigations into the case have been concluded and that the suspects have been formally charged in court.
The Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, Ali Umar Fage, commended the SWAT operatives for their professionalism and commitment in carrying out the operation successfully.
