Suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly killed a Nigerian police officer and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State.
The development was revealed by security analyst Brant Philip in a post on X, where he said the victims had been captured earlier in separate locations across the state.
According to the report, the killings followed a similar incident days earlier, when another CJTF operative was executed after being taken captive near Damasak.
Philip wrote: “ISWAP executed yesterday a Nigerian police officer and two CJTF militiamen they captured previously in separate locations of Borno State, Nigeria. Four days earlier the group also executed an CJTF militiaman they captured previously near Damasak, Borno State.
“When these militiamen, soldiers and police officers are captured the group doesn’t immediately claim it, they’re usually held for a few days for them to extract information, and then executed in bulk and only after that comes the claims.”
