Imo Police Arrest Couple Over Hard Drugs Trafficking

The Imo State Police Command has arrested a couple, Collins and Onyinyechi Iwunze, for allegedly dealing in hard drugs in Owerri West Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye said the suspects were arrested at their residence following credible intelligence, with a bag of illicit substances recovered during the operation.

Okoye said “operatives of the Imo State Police Command’s Surveillance Unit, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects involved in the sale of prohibited hard drugs. The operation was carried out on 27th March 2026 at about 0630hrs at Umunjoku Obiokwu Amakohia-Ubi in Owerri West LGA.

‎”The suspects, Collins Iwunze (51) and his wife, Onyinyechi Iwunze (43), were apprehended at their residence, where they allegedly dealt in hard drugs in commercial quantities. A bag containing assorted illicit substances was recovered during the operation.

‎”The suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to facilitate their prosecution”, he said.

The Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, praised the operatives and urged residents to report suspicious activities.
