ASUU Issues 4-Day Ultimatum Over New Salary Structure

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a four-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, demanding immediate payment of lecturers under the newly approved salary structure.

ASUU President Christopher Piwuna warned that failure to act within the deadline could lead to a nationwide strike that may shut down public universities.

Speaking in Sa’adu Zungur University, he said:

“We have issued a four-day ultimatum from today to the federal government to begin the payment of the newly approved salary structure. Failure to comply will attract a strong response from the union,” he said.

The warning comes months after both parties reached an agreement aimed at ending recurring strikes, with the new salary structure seen as a key step toward improving lecturers’ welfare.
