At least five people, including a student, have been killed in an attack by unknown gunmen on a hunters’ office in Gidan Waya, Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State.
The victims were members of the Nigerian Forest Security Service (NFSS), according to officials.
Confirming the incident, the command’s intelligence officer, Mr Gaji Ampot, said the attackers struck around 8 p.m., approaching from different directions before opening fire.
“One of the gunmen arrived on a motorcycle from one direction, while others approached on foot from the opposite side and began shooting.
“All but one of the victims were our men. The fifth person killed was a student who was in our office to resolve an issue,” he said.
Three others were injured and are currently receiving treatment, while residents suspect the attack may be linked to ongoing efforts to curb banditry in the area.
