Cross River Easter Security: Police Step Up Operations

The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, Rashid Afegbua, has directed senior officers to strengthen security operations across the state as Easter celebrations continue.

Afegbua instructed area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical teams to maintain heightened surveillance and adopt intelligence-driven patrols as part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.

He also ordered targeted raids on identified hotspots within their areas of responsibility, stressing the need for proactive policing during the festive period.

At the same time, the police chief cautioned that all operations must strictly follow the established guidelines of the Nigeria Police Force.

In his Easter message, Afegbua extended greetings to residents, urging them to celebrate responsibly while remaining vigilant.

According to a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the commissioner emphasized the importance of cooperation between the public and security agencies.

He called on residents to provide timely and credible information that could aid law enforcement efforts.

The command reaffirmed its readiness to maintain peace and order, warning that decisive action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt the calm during the celebrations.

“The Commissioner of Police stated that comprehensive operational strategies have been put in place to ensure the safety of residents and visitors before, during, and after the Easter festivities. These measures are aimed at preventing any breach of peace and curbing the activities of criminal elements.”
