Many Nigerian Artists Treated Me Badly – Shallipopi

Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, better known as Shallipopi, has opened up about the challenges he faced while trying to break into the mainstream music scene between 2023 and 2024.

In a post shared on social media, the ‘Ex-convict’ crooner said he experienced harsh treatment from several colleagues in the industry, noting that many artists neither welcomed him nor made the journey easier.

He explained that those experiences have shaped his current attitude, making him “extra mean.”

Taking to his X handle, he wrote, “2023/2024 many artist pour me spit for face…. I mean manyyyyyy, that’s why I’m extra mean, ogun go kill of una one by one as time dey go.”

Shallipopi rose to prominence after his hit track ‘Elon Musk’ went viral online.

He later released a remix featuring Zlatan Ibile and Fireboy DML, a move that further boosted his presence in the music industry.

In October 2023, the singer also shared on Instagram that Zlatan played a significant role in shaping his career, revealing that the rapper gave his journey “life” free of charge.
