EPL: Paul Merson Urges Chelsea to Appoint Eddie Howe

Former Arsenal player and football analyst Paul Merson has suggested that Chelsea should look towards Eddie Howe as a permanent managerial solution ahead of next season.

The recommendation comes after Chelsea dismissed Liam Rosenior last week, with Calum McFarlane stepping in as interim head coach for the remainder of the campaign.

Merson, speaking on Sky Sports, expressed strong admiration for Howe’s managerial ability, highlighting his reputation and the demand he would attract should he become available.

“I’m a big fan of Eddie Howe. If Eddie Howe leaves Newcastle, they will be queuing up around the corner for him. He’s a top manager,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“So that tells you everything. Be careful, Newcastle. Chelsea would take him tomorrow morning, you would like to think so wouldn’t you?”

Howe, who currently manages Newcastle United, has earned praise for his work with the club, and Merson believes his style and track record make him a strong candidate to lead Chelsea back to competitiveness and potential silverware.
