Nigeria’s D’Tigress staged a powerful comeback to defeat the Philippines with a 101-84 scoreline during their third outing at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament this Saturday.
The reigning African queens, coming off a tough 77-60 loss to Colombia in their previous matchup on Thursday, struggled to find their rhythm in the opening stages.
The Philippines edged ahead in the first quarter 25-21 and managed to build a solid nine-point cushion, heading into the locker room at the break leading 51–42.
However, D’Tigress flipped the script in the third quarter, outworking the Philippines 34–21 to wipe out the lead and swing the momentum in their favor.
Rena Wakama’s squad put the game away with a commanding 25–12 run in the final frame, crossing the century mark in a truly impressive display of force.
Looking ahead, D’Tigress are set to take on France this Sunday, followed by their final group game against Germany on Monday.
