The United States has indicated that its ongoing military operation against Iran could continue for about four to six weeks.
This was disclosed on Friday by Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, who also stated that the U.S. military is making significant progress in gaining control of Iranian airspace.
Leavitt explained that the U.S. would consider Iran to be in a state of “unconditional surrender” once Donald Trump determines that the country no longer poses a threat to the United States.
She told reporters at the White House, “What the president means is that when he, as the Commander in Chief of the US military, decides that Iran is no longer a threat to the United States and the mission of Operation Epic Fury has been completely successful, then Iran will basically be in a position where they have to give up everything without any conditions, even if they don’t say it themselves.”
Trump stated on Friday that the only way to halt the joint U.S.–Israeli offensive, which began seven days ago, is for Tehran to surrender without any conditions.
The U.S. president had earlier suggested that the conflict could last around four to five weeks, though he added that it might extend even longer.
Meanwhile, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the military operation would continue “as long as it takes” to accomplish its objectives in Iran. He said yesterday, “Our timeline is ours and ours alone to control.”
Leavitt made the remarks ahead of a meeting scheduled between Trump and leading defense contractors.
She also assured reporters at the White House that the United States has sufficient weapons to meet its operational needs in Iran.
According to her, the U.S. government is monitoring several possible figures who could potentially lead Iran, although she declined to provide further details.
“I know there are a lot of people that our intelligence agencies and the U.S. government are watching, but I can’t go into more details about that.”
