Tinubu Condoles With Victims of Borno Terrorist Attack

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to families of victims who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack on the Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The message was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

The condolence followed the attack on the community by insurgents from Boko Haram in the North-East region.

Tinubu lamented the deaths of innocent people, including both civilians and military personnel who were affected by friendly fire during an aerial operation carried out by the Nigerian Air Force while pursuing fleeing terrorists.

He described the incident as “a heartless assault on innocent citizens”.

“The attack by terrorists on helpless citizens is deeply saddening,” the president said.

He encouraged residents of Borno and other parts of the country not to allow fear to take hold despite the attack.

Tinubu also praised the military for its rapid response, which resulted in the killing of several terrorists and forced others to retreat.

“The swift response of our gallant troops demonstrates their resolve to defend the nation and protect innocent lives,” he said.

The president further instructed the military and other security agencies to intensify efforts aimed at rescuing those abducted during the attack.

He also directed the armed forces to reinforce strategies that would ensure the protection of civilians and prevent further assaults on military formations in the North-East.

Tinubu offered prayers for those who died in both the terrorist attack and the friendly fire incident.

He also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and the government of Borno State. (News Agency of Nigeria)
