Tinubu Arrives APC Convention at Eagle Square

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived at Eagle Square, the venue of the 8th elective National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among those present at the convention are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, along with APC governors, ministers, lawmakers, and party delegates.

The convention officially commenced around 8:15 p.m.

However, activities across Abuja were significantly disrupted due to tight security arrangements surrounding the event. Reports indicate that journalists faced restrictions and, in some cases, harassment by security operatives.

Heavy deployment of police and military personnel led to the closure of major roads leading to Eagle Square, limiting access and forcing many accredited journalists to walk long distances to reach the venue.

Despite having valid accreditation, several reporters were denied entry at various checkpoints, while some security operatives allegedly issued threats against those attempting to gain access.

A number of journalists who eventually made it into the venue temporarily gathered at the Nasarawa State Pavilion but were later asked to leave following verbal exchanges with party delegates.
