Oyo Govt Seeks Collaboration With Federal Schools

The Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has expressed readiness to collaborate with Federal Government–owned schools located across the state in a bid to strengthen educational standards and improve student security in public schools.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, made this known when the Commandant of Police Secondary School Igboora, Ogunlade Fisayo, alongside her management team, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

Olayiwola commended the commandant for the visit and emphasised that the state’s education ministry remains the central coordinating body responsible for educational development in Oyo State.

“Although some institutions are owned by the Federal Government, many of the students are indigenes of Oyo State, making collaboration between federal and state institutions essential,” he said.

According to him, such cooperation is necessary to ensure the academic success, welfare and security of students across schools in the state.

The commissioner also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to maintaining a strong relationship between federal- and state-owned educational institutions for the benefit of students and the overall advancement of education in Oyo State.

Earlier, the commandant of Police Secondary School, Igboora, CSP Ogunlade Fisayo, explained that the visit was aimed at introducing herself to the commissioner and seeking greater recognition and publicity for the school due to its location.

She noted that among the five Police Secondary Schools in the South-West region, the Igboora school ranks as the second largest, with a student population of more than 750 drawn from both civilian and police families.

CSP Ogunlade also thanked the commissioner for the warm reception and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to working closely with the state government to promote quality education and the academic development of its students.
