A United States official has revealed that at least 303 American troops have been wounded in the ongoing conflict with Iran as the war approaches its one-month mark.
According to ABC News, the official stated that 273 of the injured personnel have already returned to duty, while 10 sustained serious injuries.
He explained that most of the casualties involve traumatic brain injuries, which can lead to memory loss, migraines, fatigue, and other cognitive challenges. These injuries are largely attributed to Iranian one-way attack drones and other explosive devices, with many troops affected by nearby blasts.
The official added that such injuries pose long-term risks. Data from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs indicates that individuals diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries are nearly twice as likely to die by suicide compared to those without such conditions.
The conflict reportedly began on February 28, involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, and has since escalated significantly, resulting in multiple casualties and widespread attacks on U.S. interests across the Middle East.
