The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Samuel Ogbuku, has provided an update to President Bola Tinubu on the Commission’s efforts to complete long-standing infrastructure projects across the Niger Delta region.
The update followed a meeting at the State House in Abuja, where Ogbuku reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to delivering practical and measurable outcomes in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Details of the engagement were made public in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs.
According to Ogbuku, the progress achieved so far has been made possible through consistent support from the Presidency. He noted that President Tinubu has encouraged the Commission to prioritise the completion of inherited projects to ensure they deliver tangible benefits to communities in the region.
He highlighted several projects that have already been completed, including a 650-bed student hostel at Niger Delta University in Amassoma, Bayelsa State, as well as an electrification project in Oron, Akwa Ibom State.
Ogbuku extended an invitation to the President to formally inaugurate these projects, describing them as clear evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
He also disclosed that a number of major projects are at advanced stages and will soon be ready for commissioning. These include the Kaa–Ataba Road and Bridge in Rivers State, the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital, and ongoing road construction works in Ikot Ekpene.
“I also briefed Mr President on the progress we have made in conjunction with the Delta State Government and Chevron Nigeria Limited on the 70.75km Omadino-Okerenkoko-Escravos Road and bridges in the Warri North Local Government Area,” he added.
