Lagos Launches Security Tip Lines for Residents to Report Threats

The Lagos State Government has introduced dedicated security tip lines aimed at strengthening intelligence gathering and encouraging residents to actively participate in security monitoring across the state.

The initiative was unveiled by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund as part of broader efforts to address emerging security challenges and improve communication between the public and security agencies.

Details of the development were shared in a statement posted on X by Ridwan Ajetunmobi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

According to the statement, the government is expanding channels through which residents can relay credible security information to relevant authorities.

“To adapt to evolving security challenges, the Lagos State Government has strengthened its intelligence gathering efforts, broadening public access to reporting security concerns in their neighbourhoods,” the statement read.

The government explained that the newly introduced Security Tip Lines are designed specifically for messaging and do not support voice calls. Residents are expected to submit security-related information through text messages, photographs, and video recordings.

The designated lines are 0911 019 5555 and 0916 201 1179.

“Through these platforms, individuals can submit information, photographs, and video recordings relating to security concerns within their communities,” the statement added.

According to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, the initiative is intended to strengthen collaboration between the public and government agencies by improving the flow of actionable intelligence while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

The government further noted that the adoption of technology-driven reporting tools would enhance situational awareness and support faster decision-making by security agencies in responding to potential threats.
