The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed reports of a planned cult-related clash in parts of the state, assuring residents that there is no threat to public safety.
In a statement issued on April 13, 2026, the command described the circulating claims as false, despite concerns raised about areas such as Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda, and Ishaga.
Police authorities said proactive measures had already been put in place to prevent any possible unrest in the affected locations.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that it has taken proactive and decisive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order,” the statement read.
Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, was said to have ordered intensified patrols and increased deployment of officers across identified flashpoints.
“The areas are well secured, and adequate security coverage has been emplaced to deter any unlawful gatherings or activities,” the statement added.
Residents were urged to remain calm, ignore unverified information, and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
