The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked a widely circulated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result slip claiming that a candidate scored 394 out of 400 in the 2026 examination, describing the document as entirely fake.
The purported result, which gained traction on social media platform X, alleged that a female candidate identified as Okon Winniefred Sampson achieved the unusually high score. The claim quickly drew attention online, with many users sharing and reacting to the post.
However, in an official statement issued on Sunday and signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB expressed concern over how widely the fabricated result has been circulated, even among individuals who should be able to identify its inconsistencies.
According to the Board, the document does not conform to the official format used for UTME result slips. It explained that, at this stage of the examination process, candidates can only access their results through designated official channels, where they are presented in a “view-only” format.
This means that any downloadable or printed result slip currently in circulation should be treated as suspicious.
“All results at the moment are view-only,” the statement stated.
JAMB further noted that the viral document appears to have been created using a fabricated template, which alone undermines its authenticity.
In addition, the registration number displayed on the slip does not align with the Board’s system-generated format, with the irregular “20269” sequence highlighted as a clear indicator of fraud.
The Board added that several other inconsistencies are evident in the document, making it easy to identify as fake even without detailed scrutiny.
JAMB therefore urged members of the public to disregard the circulating result and to depend solely on its official platforms for accurate and verified information regarding UTME results.
