Iran Eases Strait of Hormuz Restrictions for Ships

Iran has announced a partial easing of restrictions on movement through the Strait of Hormuz, allowing certain vessels to pass under specific conditions.

According to Iran’s mission to the United Nations, ships that are not considered hostile and are not supporting military actions against Tehran will be permitted to transit the strategic waterway.

However, the mission made it clear that vessels must comply with Iranian security guidelines and coordinate their movements with the appropriate authorities before passage.

The Strait of Hormuz has recently become a major نقطة of tension amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Tehran has carried out repeated attacks on vessels in the area, effectively disrupting one of the world’s most critical shipping routes for oil and gas.

Located between Iran and Oman, the narrow strait serves as the only maritime gateway connecting the Persian Gulf to the open ocean.

It remains one of the most vital energy corridors globally, with roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply typically passing through it.
