Fire Outbreak Hits Nigerian Breweries Facility in Aba

A fire outbreak on Thursday caused significant damage at the Nigerian Breweries facility in Aba, Abia State, spreading to nearby properties and sparking panic among residents.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, extended to areas around the Nigerian Railways station, triggering panic as people in the vicinity made attempts to control the inferno before the arrival of emergency responders.

The situation, however, was brought under control following the intervention of the Abia State Fire Service and other emergency agencies, whose swift response prevented the fire from spreading further and causing more extensive damage.

As of the time of reporting, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities have indicated that investigations are underway to determine the source of the outbreak.

In an official statement, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Alex Otti, reassured the public that the situation had been successfully managed.

“This is to inform the general public that the fire outbreak that occurred at the Nigerian Breweries facility this afternoon, which also spread to other facilities within the vicinity and raged for some hours, has finally been successfully contained by the Abia State Emergency Services and other supporting agencies”, Ekeoma said.

He also urged residents to disregard any circulating videos being presented as real-time footage of the incident, emphasizing the importance of relying on verified information.
