Delta Urges Youths to Join Nigerian Army Amid Low Turnout

The Delta State Government has called on young residents to enlist in the Nigerian Army, while praising the military for “its inclusivity policy” in distributing recruitment slots fairly across the country.

Speaking during a meeting in Asaba, Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Emu, said efforts are underway to boost youth participation through awareness campaigns and community engagement.

However, officials expressed concern over low turnout. According to Brig-Gen Moses Ikobah, Delta has recorded only a few hundred applicants despite having up to 400 available slots.

“While national applications stood at about 38,000 as of April 7, this year, Delta recorded only a few hundred applicants…,” he said.

With the May 17 deadline approaching, authorities warn that poor participation could cost the state its share of recruitment opportunities.
