The Borno State Police Command has announced a temporary restriction on the movement of tricycles across the state from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday as part of security measures for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, advised residents to observe prayers at locations nearest to their homes to reduce movement and avoid overcrowding.
Daso disclosed that operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit have been deployed to key locations, including major gathering points, to carry out thorough screening of individuals and items entering designated venues.
According to him, the restriction on tricycle (Keke NAPEP) movement is intended to improve security coordination, ease crowd control, and prevent potential threats.
He added that security personnel have been deployed in collaboration with other agencies to Eid prayer grounds, markets, motor parks, and other vulnerable areas for surveillance, traffic management, and general public safety.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other operatives to intensify patrols, intelligence-driven operations, and visibility policing throughout the festive period.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant, comply with the directives, and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. Parents and guardians were also advised to keep a close watch on their children, especially in crowded environments.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the celebrations.
