Three Dead, 11 Injured in Katsina Bandit Attack

The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed that bandits killed three people and injured 11 others during an attack on Jikamashi town in Musawa Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Aliyu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to him, the incident occurred on March 10 at about 6:05 p.m. after the police in Musawa received a distress call reporting that suspected bandits armed with dangerous weapons had invaded Jikamashi village.

Abubakar explained that the attackers had already inflicted injuries on several residents before security operatives arrived at the scene.

“They injured 14 persons before the arrival of security agencies,” he said.

Following the alert, a joint security team led by the Divisional Police Officer in Musawa was immediately deployed to the area to confront the attackers.

The police spokesperson said the team engaged the bandits in a gunfight and successfully repelled the assault.

Residents who sustained injuries during the attack were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

However, medical personnel later confirmed that three of the victims died from their injuries, while the remaining 11 are currently receiving treatment and responding well.

Abubakar added that the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Bello Shehu, has strongly condemned the attack on the community.

He also noted that the police commissioner has ordered a full investigation into the incident to ensure those responsible are identified, tracked down and brought to justice.
