The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of five passengers abducted during an armed robbery along Ondo Road.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed in a statement issued in Akure that the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. between Ita-Oba and Oboto.
According to him, the victims were traveling in a commercial vehicle from Ondo to Akure when armed robbers intercepted them and forced them into the bush, where their belongings were taken.
“Following a swift response to the distress call, the command’s operatives alongside Amotekun Corps carried out a targeted operation which led to the successfully rescue of the victims from the bush, unharmed.
“Meanwhile, three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the robbery and they identified as Akinyemi Olamilekan ‘m’; Mutaka Ali ‘m’ and Atiku Abubakar ‘m’.
“The suspects have made useful statements that is aiding investigation and will be charged to court upon conclusion,” he said.
Jimoh reassured the public of the command’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly along highways and major transport routes.
He added that routine monitoring, strategic patrols, and intelligence-driven operations remain in place to deter criminal activities and ensure quick responses to emergencies.
The police spokesperson also urged residents to stay vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly, and provide credible information to security agencies to help enhance community safety.
