Two individuals have been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly abducting a four-year-old child and demanding ransom for his release.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed that the suspects were apprehended in connection with the kidnapping of the young boy in Ngballang, a community in Numan Local Government Area.
Police authorities said on Friday that the incident was reported on March 2, 2026, when Umar Ibrahim, a resident of Ngballang, reported at the Numan Police Division that his son, Ramadan, had gone out to play on March 1 but did not return home.
According to the police, initial efforts by the family and community members to locate the child were unsuccessful. A few days later, the father reportedly received a call from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped.
The abductors allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦800,000 for the boy’s release.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said that following the report, operatives from the Numan Division launched an investigation that led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali, 19, and Shitu Umar, 23. Both are residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area.
Nguroje added that the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation. He said the command has directed its Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Adamawa State.
