Police Arrest Two Over Fake NECO Certificates in Bauch

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two applicants seeking recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force over the alleged possession of forged National Examinations Council (NECO) certificates during a screening exercise at the Police Training School in Bauchi.

The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

Habib explained that the recruitment screening was supervised by A.Y. Dickson, who led the team responsible for conducting the exercise at the training institution.

According to him, a total of 403 candidates participated in the screening, including 354 applicants for general duty positions and 49 specialist candidates.

He said the two suspects were found with falsified NECO results during the process of verifying their credentials.

The police spokesperson added that both individuals share the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had been moving together throughout the screening exercise before their documents were identified as fake.

Habib further stated that the team leader directed that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the ‘E’ Division for further investigation.

He also cautioned prospective applicants against engaging in any form of dishonesty during recruitment exercises.
