The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 146 suspects during a large-scale security operation in Sagamu aimed at tackling crime and strengthening public safety.
Details of the operation were shared in a statement released on April 14, 2026, via the command’s official platform.
The exercise, code-named “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” was carried out in the early hours of April 13 following intelligence reports pointing to suspected criminal activity in parts of the town.
According to the police, the raid focused on known hotspots believed to harbour criminal elements, with the goal of preventing any potential breakdown of law and order.
The operation involved a joint effort with multiple security agencies, including the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security Corps, and local vigilante groups.
“The operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order and reinforce public safety across the area,” the statement said.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspects are currently being screened to determine their involvement in criminal acts, noting that those found guilty will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the coordinated effort, describing it as a proactive and intelligence-driven approach to policing.
He also reassured residents of continued efforts to maintain peace and security across Ogun State, while urging the public to stay alert and report suspicious activities.
