Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts received another boost on April 11, 2026, as the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI carried out targeted follow-up airstrikes on terrorist hideouts along the Jilli axis in Borno State.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) confirmed that the operation was part of a coordinated mission with ground troops of the Nigerian Army. The strikes came after an earlier offensive that significantly weakened insurgent positions in the area.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the latest strikes focused on militants linked to recent attacks on security personnel.
The operation also targeted fleeing fighters and regrouping elements attempting to take advantage of the region’s challenging terrain.
The mission was driven by credible intelligence and close collaboration between security stakeholders, ensuring precision and effectiveness while consolidating earlier gains.
“By sustaining pressure through immediate mop-up strikes after the initial coordinated assault, the air component has reinforced ongoing efforts to secure lives, protect property, and stabilise vulnerable areas across Borno State and the wider North-East theatre,” it said.
The Air Force reiterated its commitment to continuous surveillance, rapid response, and precision operations in support of Nigeria’s broader fight against terrorism, assuring citizens of ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and stability.
