The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Saidu Isah, in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and theft, recovering stolen items valued at approximately N1.2 million.
The arrest was made by operatives attached to the ‘E’ Division in Yelwa, according to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib.
Habib explained that the suspect, who hails from Almuri in Misau Local Government Area, was intercepted on May 3, 2026, during a routine patrol operation.
“On 3rd May, 2026, a patrol team from the Division arrested one Saidu Isah, male, 27 years old, of Almuri in Misau Local Government Area. The suspect was apprehended with three smart television sets, each valued at N400,000,” he stated.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly confessed to carrying out the act alongside an accomplice identified as Abdul, popularly known as “PA,” who remains at large.
Preliminary findings indicate that the duo allegedly broke into the premises of the National Broadcasting Commission, located behind Elim Church in Yelwan Tudu, Bauchi, where they carted away three television sets.
“The duo, in furtherance of their unlawful act, trespassed into the premises and carted away the three television sets,” Habib added.
The police noted that investigations are ongoing at the divisional level, with plans to charge the suspect to court upon the conclusion of preliminary inquiries.
Authorities have also intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing accomplice.
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across the state.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station or through official communication channels.
